FAQ

Q. Where are you located?

A. I primarily teach out of my in-home studio in north Atlanta (inside 285 off Powers Ferry.)

Q. what is your lesson cancellation policy?

A. You may reschedule a lesson or coaching session without penalty by providing at least 24 hours advance notice. Last-minute rescheduling prevents me from taking on another student or gig, so payment will be due in full.

Q. I just found out i have an audition. Can you squeeze me in for a coaching session?

A. Congrats! Most likely, yes. Shoot me a text at 404-444-4583 and we will find a time to make sure you’re prepped and feeling great.

Q. How much do lessons cost?

A. Refer to the chart below:

Q. Do you offer discounts?

A. Yes! I offer 10% off lessons when you pay for a 5-lesson package (essentially a month of lessons) in advance. Also, please read Our Values to see if you qualify for other need-based discounts.

Q. How do we pay you?

A. Payment is due before or at the time of the service. You can find me on Cash App ($gambleamadingdong), PayPal (@gingerbreadmusic), or Zelle (gamble@gingerbreadmusic.org). I also accept the regular old green stuff.

Q. how old are your students?

A. All ages! My youngest is 3 and my oldest won’t let me tell you how old they are. I love teaching kids, and I REALLY love when adults decide to try it out for the first time or pick it back up after many years! It’s never too late to start.

Q. I need a transposition (or cut, tempo adjustment, a couple more vamps) on the show tracks I bought from you. What do I do?

A. Good news! The price of the tracks includes 2 studio hours of edit requests. Typically, productions do not require edits beyond that, but if you do, I will complete them at my standard rate of $50/hour. After you submit your requests, please allow 1 week for me to make the edits! Most of the time, I will have them back to you faster than that, but the guaranteed maximum return time is 1 week.

Q. WHAT IF I’M ALLERGIC TO DOGS?

A. I do have a 35-pound senior mutt named Nina Simone who enjoys lounging nearby during lessons. If this presents any problem, let me know, and let’s chat! We can work in a different space that is animal-free.

Q. WHAT DOES IT MEAN, YOU USE “THEY/THEM” PRONOUNS?

A. It means that if you refer to me using a pronoun instead of my name, you can use “they.” For example, if Dana goes by “they” pronouns, you could say, “Dana went to the library,” or, “They went to the library.”

Just as we generally have names we go by, we also tend to have pronouns that we want to be referred to by. The name or pronouns someone goes by do not necessarily indicate anything about the person’s gender or other identities. Names and pronouns tend to be publicly shared, because they are part of the language commonly used to refer to people. Identities tend to be private (i.e. many people don't proactively share their gender just as many people don't proactively share their race, class, or sexuality with mere acquaintances). However, I am personally comfortable sharing that I identify as genderqueer, and I am a big advocate for the trans* community!

You can read more about pronouns here.
